This painting was inspired by a dream, and the original was presented to the former President Obama. It represents the former President, his wife and their daughters. Obama sits at the root of the tree as the foundation of the country during his time. Michelle is holding a basket of rice to represent fertility and growth. One child is gathering Spanish moss to represent health and healing as Spanish moss in the Gullah culture is used to help lower high blood pressure. The other child is sitting in the tree to represent how precious trees are as it provides homes to many animals and humans. Her sitting in the tree also represents understanding our history and heritage.
